We’re excited to announce that we will be participating in THATCampVA conference (for technology & humanities geeks) fun this year. On Saturday evening 12/18, we will perform at 12th Street Tap House near UVa’s campus. Here’s a nice preview writeup posted the official conference site:

Best of all? Dzian! is led by digital humanists: Scholars’ Lab denizens and fellows, UVa music grad students and recent PhDs. Dzian! (That means “super-cool!”)

Event details will be announced once finalized.

We played an impromptu acoustic set on the Cville downtown mall last Friday night. It was a beautiful night. Jon played his upright bass, Carey a stripped down drumset including a bucket, Rachel on acoustic violin, and I on an accordion. Our set brought together music lovers (of Crosby Stills and Nash), break dancers, hand drummers, high school drama-club kids go-go dancing, little kids doing back-flips and hand stands, older wine-drinking couples, and fellow musicians. One little kid (who looked to be about 7 year old) ended one of our songs with a full back-flip! Thanks to Kho for capturing some of fun moments of this night. More pictures here!

A fellow musician (UVa music student) joined us playing Rachel's violin

This performance embodied the original nakasi spirit of playing in a pick-up style in the streets. And our next show is a tea parlor performance (at the Tea Bazaar) — very nakasi-a-propos.
