Look out for Halloween fun on 10/30 at The Haven (free show organized by UVa music dept feat The Hsu-nami): We’ll play “Dracula Cha Cha” in Italian with Latin percussion & jazz lightness for you. This song was originally by Bruno Martino and is performed onscreen in Vincente Minnelli’s film Two Weeks in Another Town (1962). The extreme goofy-spooky version that we’re performing is by Los Caballeros, a Malay band of the 1960s-70s. Los Caballeros’ version appears to follow closely the version by Bob Azzam, an Egyptian singer of Palestinian (Lebanese?) origins.
